Privacy & security

What we collect, how it's protected, and what we never share.

What information does Near-U collect?

We only collect what's needed to run a trusted marketplace:

  • Account basics — your name, phone, optional email.
  • ID for providers — NIN slip, voter's card, driver's licence, or passport. Stored encrypted, only seen by our verification team.
  • Bank details for providers — needed to pay you out. Encrypted at rest, masked in our admin views.
  • Booking details — addresses, GPS coordinates, contact phone, the answers you give when booking.
  • Payment data — handled by Paystack, not us. We only store a transaction reference.

Who can see my information?

  • Your bookings are visible to you, the provider on that booking, and Near-U admins (for support and dispute resolution). They're not searchable by other users.
  • Your phone number is shared with the provider once they accept your booking, so they can call about the job.
  • Your home address is shared only with the provider on a confirmed booking, never publicly listed.
  • Provider portfolios + reviews are public so other clients can vet them.
  • Your full name appears on your public reviews under the bookings you've completed.

How is my data protected?

  • All connections to Near-U use HTTPS encryption by default.
  • Sensitive fields (bank account numbers, ID documents) are encrypted at the database level.
  • Card data never touches our servers — Paystack handles all payment processing with PCI-DSS compliance.
  • Internal access to user data is logged. Admins see what they need to support you; nothing more.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Open My account → Danger zone → Delete my account. This is permanent. We'll keep a minimal record (your booking history with the financial figures) for the 5 years Nigerian law requires us to hold transaction records — but your name, contact details, and personal data are wiped.

Didn't find what you needed?

Our support team responds within a few hours, every day of the week.

We use cookies to make Near-U work

Some are essential (your login, your basket of bookings). Others — analytics and marketing — only run if you say yes. Read our privacy policy for the full story.

Privacy Preference Center

When you visit Near-U, we may store small files (cookies) on your device. Some are needed to make the site work — like keeping you signed in. Others are optional and help us understand what's working or show you Near-U on other sites. You decide which optional ones run, and you can change your mind any time from the footer of any page.

Manage your preferences

These cookies are required for Near-U to work. They keep you signed in, hold your CSRF security token, remember the consent choice you're making right now, and let the site serve pages in the right language. The site can't run without them, so they can't be switched off.

Remember the small things that make the site feel like yours — your shared GPS location for distance checks, the tab you last opened in your account page, recent search queries, and which providers you've viewed. The site still works without these, but you'll have to share your location again on every visit.

Help us see how Near-U is being used — which pages people visit, which searches succeed, where errors happen. All data is anonymous and aggregated. We use this to fix bugs and improve flows that confuse people. Currently includes: Google Analytics (when enabled).

Let us show you Near-U adverts on other sites (Facebook, Instagram, Google) and measure whether those adverts brought you back. We may also use these to retarget you if you started a booking but didn't finish. Currently includes: Meta Pixel, Google Ads conversion tracking (when enabled).

Read our privacy policy for more on what we collect and why.
